Enrico Cascella Spinosa took over the winery from his father in 1981 at the young age of nineteen. While the property had previously sold its wine in bulk, it was his decision to begin bottling his own wine. - Ernest Hemingway once described Valpolicella as "Light, dry, red and cordial like the home of a brother whom you get along with"…Oh, what has become of the poetic writers of wine today? The name "Recioto" derives from the local dialect for ears, or "recie", referring to the outer part of the grape cluster, where the sweetest grapes are. "Amarone" derives from the Italian word for bitter (Amaro).

Valpolicella Classico DOC 2004

Corvina Veronese and Corvinone 70%, Rondinella 30%

The standard-label Valpolicella stands out for its sulphurous mineral note while the customary freshness gives the palate clear, fresh fruit overtones.

Valpolicella Classico Antanel DOC 2003

Corvina Veronese and Corvinone 70%, Rondinella 25%, Molinara 5%

The Antanel is more immediate and enjoyably drinkable, its uncompromising, ripe fruit enhanced with light flowery hints.

Valpolicella Classico Superiore Jago DOC 2001

Corvina Veronese and Corvinone 70%, Rondinella 25%, Molinara 5%

The Valpolicella Jago is very good. Austere, deep notes of minerals usher in a no-nonsense palate that shows strong personality.

Amarone Valpolicella Classico DOC 1998

Corvina Veronese and Corvinone 70%, Rondinella 25%, Molinara 5%

The Amarone is not especially concentrated in color because of the vintage. The aromas open on mineral and spicy notes with pepper in the foreground, followed by more delicate ripe fruit overtones. On the palate it is surprisingly fresh-tasting and the firm tannins contrast with subtle aromatic herbs and raisins.

Recioto Valpolicella Classico DOC 2003

Corvina Veronese and Corvinone 70%, Rondinella 25%, Molinara 5%

Deep red. Sour cherry with vanilla flavor.
