When
the late Sergio Manetti, a successful Italian
steel industry executive bought the Montevertine
estate as a holiday home back in 1967, little
did he dream that it would soon become an all-consuming
passion and a lifetime occupation. Montervertine
lies in the ancient commune of Radda, deep in
the heart of Tuscany's celebrated Chianti Classico
wine country. After
acquiring the property, Manetti set about restoring
the dilapidated farmhouse and it seemed only
natural, while he was at it, to build a small
wine cellar and plant some four acres of land
with vines. .
