The Montecchio estate has a long tradition of winemaking, but until 1995 the production was principally sold to large commercial bottlers with only a small amount of estate wine bottled for friends. Well aware that quality markets for Italian wine were undergoing substantial changes in recent years, in particular for the wine zone of Chianti Classico and also that Montecchio is located in one of the most prestigious areas of all, Montecchio decided to stake their bets on bottled wine and on its marketing with the active help and contribution of importers and distributors.
