The
Montecchio estate has a long tradition of winemaking,
but until 1995 the production was principally
sold to large commercial bottlers with only
a small amount of estate wine bottled for friends.
Well aware that quality markets for Italian
wine were undergoing substantial changes in
recent years, in particular for the wine zone
of Chianti Classico and also that Montecchio
is located in one of the most prestigious areas
of all, Montecchio decided to stake their bets
on bottled wine and on its marketing with the
active help and contribution of importers and
distributors.
