The farming estate "La Calonica" is found in the heart of "Le Capezzine," an area rich with tradition and prestigious wine production. The estate consists of two farms "la Calonica" and "Capezzine Vecchie," which sit on the hills of Valiano, in the two boroughs of Montepulciano and Cortona, an area known for high quality red and white wines. The wine cellars are located in ancient farm buildings. A modern structure has been built for the winemaking and bottling. Owners since 1972, the Cattani family has taken personal care of wine production and marketing. The nearby Trasimeno Lake favorably influences the climate in the Valiano vineyards guaranteeing mild winters and not too dry summers.

Sangiovese di Toscana IGT 2003

70% Sangiovese, 30% Merlot

A delicious Sangiovese, ripe cherry character, medium to full bodied, with a fresh finish. Everyday wine. Color: deep ruby-red in color. Aroma: intense, with violet and spicy notes and a lengthy finish. Taste: firm structure, generous, good class. Food pairing: red meat, game and seasoned cheese.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG 2000

90% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot, 5% Canaiolo

The 2000 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is almost on the same level as the 1999. A fresh and bright ruby color, raspberry and plum fruit, much alcoholic warmth and light spices are followed by a smooth, fleshy and round palate of ripe fruit, good length, and silky tannins on the finish. There's some hidden power and length here.

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG 2000

80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, 5% Canaiolo, 5% Mammolo

Very pretty and balanced, with blackberry, cherry, vanilla and mineral character. Medium- to full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long finish. Harmonious.

Girifalco Cortona DOC 2000

80% Sangiovese, 10% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon

You have to like blackberry, coffee and vanilla aromas to this young red. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a long finish. Very silky. Beautiful wine. Best ever from here.

Signorelli Merlot di Toscana IGT 2000

100% Merlot

Very jammy, with almost stewed fruit on the nose. Full-bodied, round and soft, with nice tannins and a fruity finish. Simple, but pleasant.
