In
1920, Domenico Cabutto purchased the then Tenuta
La Volta (The Volta Estate) from Count Gastone
Guerrieri di Mirafiori. Located in the Barolo
(Piedmont) region only ten miles from Alba,
"La Volta" was named after an adjacent
castle built between the 10th and 11th centuries.
In this now abandoned castle once lived Silvio
Pellico -- one of the best-known Italian patriots
of the last century who fought for Italian unification
and who also wrote My Prisons. The windy exposure of the
vineyard and their elevation enhancing the
perfumes and the freshness of the wines.
